Aims and scope

Financial and Economic Review – a peer-reviewed academic journal published quarterly by the Magyar Nemzeti Bank (the Central Bank of Hungary) – has been providing a professional forum for research and discussion in the fields of economics, finance, and related disciplines since its foundation. The journal primarily publishes articles in English and Hungarian, and follows a double-blind peer-review process.

Its main objective is to contribute to the advancement of both theoretical and applied research in areas such as monetary and fiscal policy, financial stability, banking, credit, capital and insurance markets, green and sustainable finance, economic growth, and competitiveness. By combining academic rigour with policy relevance, the Financial and Economic Review aims to bridge the gap between scientific research and economic decision-making, fostering dialogue among scholars, policymakers and practitioners.

The journal welcomes original research papers, analytical studies, reviews and policy analyses that address current challenges in economics and finance, especially those with regional or international perspectives.
